چکیده
Curvatures of the body can disrupt fluid flow and affect hydrodynamic resistance. The purpose this study was to evaluate effect a feedback intervention on glide performance torso morphology. Eleven male female national swimmers performed glides before after augmented feedback. Feedback consisted self-modelling visual verbal cuing, manipulate curvatures that Two-dimensional landmark position data (knee, hip shoulder) were used enable computation factor coefficient as indicators efficiency; posture (trunk incline angle); (horizontal velocity). Underwater images manually traced derive transverse sagittal diameters, cross-sectional areas, continuous form outlines (anterior posterior) torso. Maximum rate change in area gradient progressing caudally, calculated for segments: shoulder-chest, chest-waist, waist-hip. Mean velocity, values significantly (p< 0.001) improved due intervention, with large size (d) changes 0.880 (p= 0.015), 2.297 1.605, respectively. Significant gradients related reductions lumbar lordosis chest convexity. provides practical cuing phrases coaches improve efficiency performance.

Hydrodynamic glide efficiency in swimming.
The glide is a major part of starts, turns and the stroke cycle in breaststroke. Glide performance, indicated by the average velocity, can be improved by increasing the glide efficiency, that is, the ability of the body to minimise deceleration. This paper reviews the factors that affect glide efficiency. In the first part of the review the sources of resistive force are reviewed including surf...
متن کاملRelationships between glide efficiency and swimmers' size and shape characteristics.
Glide efficiency, the ability of a body to minimize deceleration over the glide, can change with variations in the body's size and shape. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationships between glide efficiency and the size and shape characteristics of swimmers. Eight male and eight female swimmers performed a series of horizontal glides at a depth of 70 cm below the surface. Gli...
متن کاملSwimming in spacetime: motion by cyclic changes in body shape.
Cyclic changes in the shape of a quasi-rigid body on a curved manifold can lead to net translation and/or rotation of the body. The amount of translation depends on the intrinsic curvature of the manifold. Presuming spacetime is a curved manifold as portrayed by general relativity, translation in space can be accomplished simply by cyclic changes in the shape of a body, without any external for...
متن کاملCan Body Language Shape Body Image?
One of the central themes in autonomous robot research concerns the question how visual images of body movements by others can be interpreted and related to one’s own body movements and to language describing these body movements. The discovery of mirror neurons has shown that there are brain circuits which become active both in the perception and the re-enactment of bodily gestures, although i...
متن کاملEvaluative feedback can improve deductive reasoning
We examine whether reasoning is improved by evaluative feedback, i.e., the information of whether a reasoner’s answer was correct or incorrect, and report two studies that show that evaluative feedback increases the chances that participants will produce normatively correct responses for deductive reasoning problems. In Experiment 1, participants who were given feedback about their performance ...
